What the check covers

Tax codes and refunds

Whether each adult is on the right tax code and is owed any tax back.

Marriage Allowance

Whether a lower-earning partner can transfer part of their Personal Allowance, including backdated claims.

High Income Child Benefit Charge

Whether either partner earns over £60,000, and how pension or Gift Aid contributions can reduce the charge.

Child Benefit

Whether you’re claiming, and whether you should claim to protect National Insurance credits even if you pay it back.

Childcare support

Whether you’re eligible for Tax-Free Childcare and funded childcare hours.

Pension and savings

How well you’re using pension tax relief, ISA allowances and the Personal Savings Allowance.

Benefits entitlement

Upcoming changes

We look at both partners’ income together and give you a short written report with clear actions. The check is best done once a year, or whenever your family circumstances change.
